Welcome to "I.T Architecture from the Trenches"

Welcome to "I.T Architecture from the Trenches" a blog and newsletter dealing with the design and implementation of actual I.T Solutions in The Cloud and elsewhere.

Here you will find retrospective and limited prospective reflections and analyses on "real world" I.T projects we have implemented or are in process of implementing.

This site is focused on our real and direct experiences in implementing complex I.T services and systems in the public and private cloud.

We document the design challenges, solutions and detailed implementation complexities of actual systems and their mechanisms.

We try to avoid theorising about systems that might be built, or even how they might be built better (we leave that to you, dear reader) and we focus on how, ultimately, a system *was* built or is in process of *being* built and what the actual results of the build was.

As one might infer from the previous statements the guiding principle for articles on this site is "pragmatism in the present".

Another key guiding principle for our explorations in I.T is also the "Systems Engineering" lens: We always try to take a "Systems Thinking" approach to the conceptualisation, architecture, design and build of information systems.

And now, onward to the trenches!
